In 2020 I became depressed as a result of the global economic impact caused by the out break of Covid-19.

My name is Nana-Yaw Adu Gyamfi. Popularly known as Obi YawBlakk. I am a song writer and a singer. I basically write and sing about love, peace, respect and life in general. To me, music is therapy that can heal anyone regardless of what one might be going through in life!

I am a professional fitter who used to work for one of the top truck building companies in Finland. Unfortunately I lose my job at the time that I needed it most! I had just returned from my home country, Ghana after my father had passed away. My head became heavy without a crown. Days became longer, nights were short! I felt restless but no where to turn. We are on lock down and the world is shut down!

One day, I sat down quietly and reflected on my past. The person that I was, who I'd wanted to be and who I am now. I realised, I have left something behind, something that used to give me happiness and so much joy! Something that was more precious to me. Music was what I left behind. I came to a realisation that there was nobody to motivate me or encourage me to do what I love to do and for that matter it is my own responsibility to do what brings me joy and become the person that I'd wanted to be!

Since that day began to write music again. I started all over again! My creation attracted POSITIVE VIBES! It sparked the colours in my SOUL. I lose my self consciousness, my ROOT, what I loved to do, my MUSIC. When I became aware of loosing myself and decided to find my path back to my true self, I was able to record my first ever EP entitled Chapter Twenty Verses Twenty(Chapter 20:20). This EP is about me waking up to live in the most toughest time in human history! I needed something to represent and tell the story of my life and all mankind considering the out break of the Corona Virus pandemic and George Floyd's incident which attracted global attention! It is no question to accept the fact that we need love, respect and positive vibes among ourselves to be able to live in peace!

Black Root Music is the Label that represents my music. Black Root Clothing is an embedded brand that represents my Creation which entails Love, Respect, Diversity and Co-Existence that will result in Peace and Harmony among mankind!
